2010 Spring
Newsletter
Hello friends,
Spring Sprung during Bear season and we are looking forward to
summer. We are writing this letter to fill you in on how the elk and
deer handled the winter. Also, to let you know this Falls outlook
and what we are expecting. To start with, the winter was
non-existent. This one stands as one of the mildest winters that
anyone can remember. There was never more than 5" of snow on the
ground at one time.
This
was great for the elk and deer numbers as they came out of the
winter just as fat as they went in. According to Montana, Fish,
Wildlife and Parks, the elk numbers are holding very strong. They
had the third highest count ever with their Spring survey in our
area. This is good news for us. As we'll be keeping lots of hunters
happy and sending guys home with some really nice bulls and bucks.
They
also surveyed the deer and the
numbers are on the rise. One thing we observed this spring, is
tremendous horn growth. The bulls dropped their horns earlier than
we have ever seen and it is
showing up with their new horn growth so we are expecting good
trophy potential this Fall. This will give our hunters a better
chance of taking a bull elk or buck of a lifetime home. With this in
mind, we have great expectations for the Fall hunting
season. We are looking forward to it.
As we know we'll be harvesting good
numbers and some will be really big. Can't wait! For those of you
that may be interested in hunting this Fall, there are Big Game
Combo licenses available (outfitter sponsored). We have a few
openings available, so there is still time to put a hunt together
for this Fall. If you are interested , e-mail or give us a call and
we can fill you in on the how and when. Also this license should
remain available
through summer.
We have covered the most important
particulars for the Fall season. So long for now and we'll be
looking forward to hearing from you to answer any questions you may
have.
Good Hunting,
Ben & Jeff
