HUNTING LICENSES ARE AVAILABLE FOR 2013 SEASON

2013 NEWSLETTER
April

Hello from Bullseye Outfitting in Trout Creek, Montana:

We are having a very early spring here, it seems to be 3 to 4 weeks early. This will make for some good bear hunting in a few weeks, looking forward to that.

The winter was very mild, only had to plow the drive way once, and had about 8 inches of snow in the yard at once. The snow has been gone in the yard for quite some time now. The snow in the high country is 90% of normal, so we will have a little run-off this spring.

The lion hunting was good, as most of the days that I loaded the hounds I could find a track to chase, ended up treeing 15 lions. This is one of my pastimes in the winter, and also keeps me in shape.

There may be some changes in the lion seasons that would make it easier for a nonresident to
get a tag. If you are interested in getting a lion I will be posting any changes on the web page to keep you informed.

The mild winter and early spring will be excellent for the wildlife here in the Lower Clark Fork Valley. This time of year the elk and deer are real visible, it enables me to get a real good idea of what is out there for game populations, reproduction, and bull numbers.

Everything looks really good right now for a great fall hunting season. Opportunities will definitely be there for bull elk and some good bucks. Check out the antler shed to the right and imagine how big he will be this year!

This time of year I am always on the move looking for something, whether it’s bull elk, turkeys or maybe scouting an area that I haven’t hunted before.

It’s not uncommon to see a couple hundred head of elk and just as many deer on a morning excursion. The ingredients are there for exceptional horn growth by fall. You can tell by the sheds found one morning that there are plenty of animals.

I would also like to mention that  the elk and deer combo-license did not sell out and there will be quite a few available  licenses. I will know more next week as the draw should be official on Monday, April 22nd. At that time I should have a number. What this means is that if you are interested in putting together a hunting trip for this fall, it’s still possible. More than likely these licenses will be available through the summer.

You have probably noticed that we have a Facebook page setup, this will be another way to communicate. It will take a little time for me to get it up to a 100%, but I will be working to expand my knowledge on this subject. For those of you that know me, you know that I’m more of a hunter woodsman type of person than a computer dude.
This pretty much hits the high spots for now, Give me a call or email me if you have any questions.

Good hunting,

Ben
