Spring Bear hunting is done in late April and early May.
The bears are just coming out of hibernation and have beautiful coats of fur. After coming out of hibernation, the bear feed on grassy slopes and logging roads. Hunting is done by glassing these slopes and logging roads. Baiting and dogs are not allowed for hunting bear in Montana. The spring bear hunts are conducted out of our lodge. We drive our to the hunting areas in 4X4 trucks each morning.

We have cinnamon, chocolate, and black color phased bears. On the average, 50% of the bears taken will be colors other than black. Spring is an especially beautiful time to be in Montana's high country. The weather is generally nice and all types of game are abundant. This is an excellent hunt for a young hunter or a hunter on his first trip to Montana.
